Meet Stu Wharton

RMN BSc (Hons) PGDip MSfDBT Accred.

Registered Mental Health Nurse and Society for DBT accredited therapist

I'm Stu, an NMC Registered Mental Health Nurse, Society for DBT Accredited Therapist and qualified DBT practitioner with a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.

I have worked in health and social care for nearly 20 years, working in Residential Units, Acute Mental Health Hospitals and Community Mental Health Teams.

With over 10 years of service within the NHS, my current role as a DBT Therapist is the culmination of years of dedicated mental health practice.

I prioritise transformative therapy and comprehensive patient care, blending psychological theories and stratergies with a personal approach.

Please visit /https://sfdbt.org/ for access to the register of accredited therapists.

My mission is to help you build a life that feels meaningful to you, with practical skills to manage difficult emotions, navigate relationships and respond to challenges with greater confidence.

Through compassionate, personalised DBT-informed work, I offer a space where you can feel heard, understood and supported. We work together to make sense of patterns that may be keeping you stuck and explore different ways forward.

I believe you can accept yourself as you are while also working towards change. Therapy is not about being positive all the time or getting everything right. It is about developing understanding, practising new skills and recognising that difficult moments do not have to determine what happens next.

My approach brings warmth, honesty and humour where appropriate, alongside respect for your individual needs, experiences and goals.
